Polaroid Is Dead - Long Live Polaroid?
looks like the rumours of Polaroid's death might be slightly premature - a group of fans got together as The Impossible Project and have revived the idea:
"The Impossible Project inspires Polaroid to re-launch Instant Cameras
We are pleased to herewith announce a history making cooperation between Polaroid and The Impossible Project:
As we have created quite some buzz about Analog Instant Photography over the past 12 months, the Polaroid licensee - The Summit Global Group - now can't resist any longer and announced at a press conference on October 13th in Hongkong that they will re-launch some of the most famous Polaroid Instant Cameras.
Therefore they are commissioning The Impossible Project to develop and produce a limited edition of Polaroid branded Instant Films in the middle of 2010.
The Impossible Project is proud and excited that its ambitions and all the relentless work that has already been invested are now becoming the foundation for Polaroid's comeback as a producer of Instant Cameras.
Large-scale production and worldwide sale of The Impossible Project's new integral film materials under its own brand will already start in the beginning of 2010 - with a brand new and astonishing black and white Instant Film and the first colour films to follow in the course of the year."

Dead TV: The Original
after a few days wading through the Indiana vaults here at Chimp Towers, our crack team of archaeologists has finally located the first documented entry in one of our longest on-going surveillance projects: yes, here's a dead TV, somewhere on Haste Street, Berkeley circa 1993. that's right kids, we're not new to this, we're true to this... join our Dead TV group over on Flickr

Sufjan Stevens: The BQE
Sufjan Stevens hasn't quite finished his project to record an album for every State in the US, but that doesn't mean he's slowed down his work rate. The next album The BQE is "a grand creative franchise-incorporating movie, symphony, comic book, dissertation, photography, graphic design, and a 3-D Viewmaster® reel" based on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway - a road in New York. It's all out in October, and is an all-instrumental affair

Project-o-cam
The future's been on the horizon for quite a while now, but gadgets like the new Nikon S1000PJ camera make it seem closer. No, it's not a Pearl Jam edition, but they tiny camera does contain a built in projector for throwing your recently taken photos up on a wall, like a 21st century family slideshow.
Fingers crossed and maybe they'll put one of these in the next iPhone.

Rock-a-likes
Not quite sure how similar these really are, as most of them just happen to be in a similar pose - but there's some humour to be had from Rolling Stone's rock-a-likes photo comparisons.

Nikon won a bronze lion award at the Cannes Advertising Festival for this red carpet simulation in a Seoul shopping mall, which fires off the flashes when someone walks past. Make sure your hand luggage is that flashy handbag we talked about.

Where The Eagle Landed
Just in time for the 40th Anniversary of the moon landing, NASA has released some images from the Lunar Reconnaissence Orbiter, which is mapping the moon.
The images show various landing sites from the Apollo landing - and you can even see the footprint trails between the lander and instruments test site in some.

Goodfeathers
Checked out some of the Free Range graduate art shows in Brick Lane at the weekend and the easy highlight was Tim Knight's set of owl portraits.
Coming off like a wildlife Usual Suspects, we decided the movie should probably star Owl Pacino.
As Paul Simon once said, "You can call me owl".

More Morning Jacket
My Morning Jacket are the subject of a photographic exhibition at the aptly/strangely titled Morrison Hotel Gallery in NYC. The show pulls together many years of photos from Sam Erikson, and features a pretty impressive run-through of the band's strange choice of fancy dress.

It's the Oscars this weekend, but while Mickey Rourke may be holding back on signing a deal for Iron Man 2, plenty of people around the world are already hard at work.

Google's ever-expanding consumption of the world's history continues and you can now search though the Life Magazine photo archive - which stretches from the 1750s to the present day and includes a huge range of immensely iconic images, as well as those rock star parents images we covered last month.
You can jump directly into the library here, or just add 'source:life' to any Google image search.

Fly By Night
Outstanding video up from Flickr user Ettubrute (AKA James Leng), documenting a flight across the continental US. The clip was constructed using a stills camera set to take a frame approximately every 45 seconds, as the glow of towns and cities slowly pass under the plane.
Check out his Flickr page for more time-lapse and some great photos.
